Summer Gist

July in the Desert has a personality all its own in Arizona.

Around July 4th, we start to look for monsoons. The mornings begin with sunshine, the afternoons bring the heat, and if we’re lucky, the clouds start gathering for monsoon season. Every year, I wait for that first rumble of thunder and the smell of rain on dry desert soil. There is nothing like it!

There is something hopeful about July in Arizona, the same kind of hope one gets in April in the Midwest.

The heat slows us down, but sometimes slowing down gives us space to think, plan, and create. For me, that usually means writing stories, planning for a beach day and creating summer salads. Some projects are moving quickly, while others are taking their time, but all of them are moving forward. I guess they always will be moving forward until I lay down my pen for the last time.

I’m excited that Pinky Pickle and the Veggie Crew Coloring Book is available on Amazon and in some of our local stores. Walmart has interest so let's see what happens there...check out Pinky's coloring book here:

This July, I’m embracing the heat, hoping for monsoon rain, and continuing one page at a time.

Thank you for following along. Your support means more than you know.

Stay cool, keep growing, and maybe enjoy a good book or two this summer.
