July: Heatwaves, Independence, and a Pickle Surprise

The heat has officially settled in here in southern Arizona—and it's not kidding around. My water bill is groaning, but the trees and bushes are thriving thanks to 4 am waterings. Everyone here is praying for a good monsoon season, as always.Every time I step outside, I’m reminded how much work it takes to keep things alive in this desert… but also how worth it that work is! The birds and critters are loving the cool shade and hiding places.
With Independence Day just around the corner, I’ve been thinking a lot about freedom—and how blessed we are to live in a country where we can speak, create, write, raise our children, plant our gardens, and chase our dreams. That freedom isn’t perfect, and it’s not always easy, but it’s still one of the greatest gifts we’ve been given. I love my independence!
And speaking of gifts… did you know July is National Pickle Month? Seems fitting, because I have TWO new Pinky Pickle books coming out next week!
🥒 Pinky Pickle and the Pirate Peas is the third book in the series—and it comes with fun activity pages to keep little hands and minds busy.
🎁 I’m also releasing a special hardcover collection of all three Pinky books in one! Not only does it save you money, but it’s a perfect gift idea… and don’t laugh—Christmas really isn’t that far away.
So whether you’re hunkering down inside with the AC blasting or watching fireworks light up the sky this week, I hope you find a moment to celebrate freedom, laughter, and the little joys that make life sweet—even in the heat.
Stay tuned!
